Humans of MY World Stories


Humans of MY World (HOMY) stories showcase personal testimonies from around the world on why the SDGs matter to people and their communities. Inspired by “Humans of New York”, HOMY reveals the individual impact in achieving the SDGs. Translated into local languages, and built from the communities, it complements data gathering for the global MY World 2030 survey (https://myworld2030.org/). 

Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Decade in Asia and the Pacific

CRVS systems play a key role in monitoring and facilitating progress towards the SDGs. As the best source of continuous and up to date information on birth, death, health and population statistics, CRVS is needed to measure a wide range of population-based SDG targets. Legal documentation provided by civil registration systems helps to reduce trafficking, statelessness, sexual exploitation and child marriage. Improving CRVS is also an SDG objective in its own right and is covered by Goals 16.9 and 17.19.

Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific

The Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (formerly the Asian Statistical Institute) was established in May 1970 as a centre for statistical training in Asia and the Pacific by 20 Governments [Afghanistan, Australia, Ceylon, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Republic of Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, United kingdom (Hong Kong) and Western Samoa], the United Nations and United Nations Development Programme by the initiative of Government of Japan.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS International Training Course on Disaster Risk Management of Cultural Heritage 2019

The Institute of Disaster Mitigation for Urban Cultural Heritage, Ritsumeikan University Kyoto, Japan, is organizing the 14th International Training Course on Disaster Risk Management of Cultural Heritage in Japan from 9 to 30 September 2019, under the UNESCO Chair Programme on Cultural Heritage and Risk Management, in cooperation with UNESCO, ICCROM, ICOM and ICOMOS/ICORP.

Ceremonial Signing of Letters of Exchange between UN ESCAP and City of Nadee, Thailand

At the sidelines of the Sixth Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) in Bangkok, Thailand, a first official exchange of letters took place between UN ESCAP and the city of Nadee, Samut Sakhon, Thailand. The Letters of Exchange are a partnership commitment between UN ESCAP and Nadee - one of the five competitively selected pilot cities under the United Nations Development Account project “Integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into local action in support of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in Asia and the Pacific”.
 

World Happiness Report

The World Happiness Report is a landmark survey of the state of global happiness that ranks 156 countries by how happy their citizens perceive themselves to be. This year’s World Happiness Report focuses on happiness and the community: how happiness has evolved over the past dozen years, with a focus on the technologies, social norms, conflicts and government policies that have driven those changes.
