Made up of 53 Member States and 9 Associate Members, with a geographical scope that stretches from Turkey in the west to the Pacific island nation of Kiribati in the east, and from the Russian Federation in the north to New Zealand in the south, the region is home to 4.1 billion people, or two thirds of the world’s population.

Integrating the SDGs into Corporate Reporting: A Practical Guide

The Practical Guide outlines a three-step process to embed the SDGs in existing business and reporting processes in alignment with the GRI Standards and recognized principles. 

  • Step 1 addresses the process of prioritization of impacts and the identification of those SDGs to act and report on. 
  • Step 2 addresses aspects on how to set business objectives, select disclosures and analyze performance. 
  • Step 3 offers tips and guidance on reporting and improving SDG performance.

The Asia-Pacific region is in danger of failing to achieve any of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) without extra efforts from all stakeholders. While many countries are moving decisively to improve the quality of education and provide access to affordable and clean energy, progress in other areas such as gender equality and building sustainable cities has been far too slow. More worryingly, the region is moving in the wrong direction when it comes to responsible consumption and production, and climate action.

Asia and the Pacific SDG Progress Report 2020

This report analyses trends as well as data availability for monitoring progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Asia and the Pacific and its five subregions. It assesses gaps which must be closed to achieve the goals by 2030. This assessment is designed to ensure the region’s actions remain on target, shortcomings are addressed as they arise, and all interested parties remain engaged.
