Financing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Bangladesh

During the years of the Millennium Development Goals, Bangladesh experienced a period of sustained
growth. This enabled the country to make good progress on related indicators, like the prevalence of
underweight children under-five years of age, and the net enrollment in primary school. But challenges
remained as the country set to work on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Bangladesh’s leaders

Institution Building in Sri Lanka: Establishment of the SDGs Monitoring and Coordination Unit

Sri Lanka made great strides through its efforts in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), but many challenges remained at the outset of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Sri Lanka’s leaders established the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Wildlife (MoSDW) to give its people an integrated agency that would lead this work. Institution Building in Pakistan: Establishment of the SDGs Monitoring and Coordination Unit

During the years of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Pakistan kept those efforts separate from their development work. The MDGs were viewed as a UN-driven program that would only be complied with via quadrennial progress reports. Those reports were prepared without a mechanism in place to deliver on the MDGs, and it took six years just to get localization efforts initiated after the MDGs were officially recognized in 2004, so progress was limited.

Institution Building in Bangladesh: Establishment of the SDGs Implementation and Monitoring Committee

Bangladesh’s leaders focused their efforts on poverty reduction during the years of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG). In doing so, they achieved the goal of bringing the portion of its society living in poverty below 29%. The country also did well on other measures as it approached the goal of universal primary education, while also reducing child mortality and improving mental health. But other figures, like those around environmental sustainability and development were not on track as they transitioned to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The Application of the Assemblage Theory to Inter-Linkages Model - Case Study Australia

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of aspirational ideas that build on a set of tangible targets and indicators that provide the bedrock on which these ideas can be achieved. The SDGs cover a vast array of social and scientific topics; some as diverse as womens’ rights, cities, economics etc. all with the intent of providing a roadmap towards a more sustainable world in the future. A way of interpreting the goals and making tangible links between the different goals, targets and indicators is the “inter-linkages” model.
