This case study documents insights on gender mainstreaming practices implemented in a large-scale agriculture development project with a climate change adaptation component in Western Province, Zambia. It describes the key gender issues in the project context, as well as the gender mainstreaming practices that are in place and have potential for scaling up.Recommendations for policymakers indicate a way forward to enhance the promotion of gender equality in the context of adaptation to climate change impacts on agriculture.

As the Gobeshona 6 Conference came to end, the NAP Global Support Programme team had the unique opportunity to sit down with four conference participants from Bhutan, working in a variety of institutions from government, municipalities and university. It was fascinating to hear the commonalities in the interviewees’ answers and comments, providing the basis for sharing lessons and future collaboration.

Nepal is no stranger to the threats of nature. The impacts of the devastating earthquake in 2015 still ripple through the country today, as the 900,0000-some people who lost their homes continue to rebuild their lives. With the average global temperatures on an upward trajectory, other threats come sharply into focus. The Himalayas is home to a plethora of glaciers and frozen lakes, which are steadily melting due to climate change. It is estimated that a glacial lake outburst from Imja Lake alone could affect up to half a million people.

The importance of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of climate change adaptation has been highlighted at global level, including under the Paris Agreement. Simultaneously, adaptation M&E systems are beginning to emerge at the national level in the context of national planning and budgeting processes. This technical guidance note details how to develop M&E systems for adaptation planning in agriculture sectors.

The NDC Partnership is open to countries and international institutions that are committed to ambitious implementation of nationally determined contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. By joining the NDC Partnership, members gain access to a global network of knowledge and resources to support their work in climate action. Benefits include, but are not limited to acquiring access to a large network of partners that can deliver a flexible array of services geared towards implementation of NDCs.

The Climate Toolbox is a searchable database of tools and resources to support NDC implementation. It includes key analytical tools and guidance documents, links to other knowledge platforms, and sources of technical support (e.g. help desks) that are relevant to NDC planning and implementation for both mitigation and adaptation. The Climate Toolbox draws together the most relevant resources for from across its Partners and other leading institutions. Content from over 100 different organizations can be easily referenced and accessed through the toolbox.
