Global Roundtable: Financing a Resilient Future

UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is hosting its 16th Global Roundtable virtually on 13–14 October 2020, in collaboration with Responsible Investor. UNEP FI’s biennial Global Roundtable (GRT) will welcome over 2000 finance professionals and 50+ high-level speakers to one of the most important global agenda-setting events on sustainable finance in 2020.

 

Speaking Truth to Power about the SDGs

Recent calls to change the SDGs and to lower ambition confuse two issues. The first is whether goals, such as universal access to healthcare, education, safe water, and clean energy, are achievable by 2030, which includes issues of technical and operational feasibility as well as affordability. The second is whether such goals are likely to be achieved given the failure rich countries to honor the goal of international partnership (SDG 17) as well as other failures in international cooperation and in domestic governance of many countries.

Durham Global Challenges Centre for Doctoral Training

This new and innovative centre is funded by Durham University for three years 2019-2021. The Centre currently consists of a single cohort of 25 international PhD students, all citizens of a developing nation. Each student is undertaking a three year fully funded PhD programme designed to identify steps towards a solution to a specific global challenge aligned with one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Strengthening Stakeholder Engagement for the Implementation and Review of the 2030 Agenda

This publication adapts, updates and expands the content of the e-learning course “Strengthening stakeholder engagement for the implementation and review of the 2030 Agenda”, which was developed by the Division for Sustainable Development Goals (DSDG) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).

SDG Implementation Online Database

The UN System SDG Implementation online database is the UN family’s repository of actions, initiatives and plans on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the sustainable development goals (SDGs). It contains information made available by UN system entities. It is searchable and is regularly updated. It serves as a useful reference tool for learning about what UN system entities have been doing in support of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
