Cities and Marine Plastic Pollution: Building a Circular Economy

This free eLearning course was developed to support city-level capacity building on the topic of plastic waste management. The purpose of this course is to share the latest knowledge and approaches to measuring and managing plastic pollution from land-based sources, in particular cities, for the achievement of local, national and regional goals related to sustainable development.

Strengthening monitoring and evaluation for adaptation planning in the agriculture sectors

The importance of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of climate change adaptation has been highlighted at global level, including under the Paris Agreement. Simultaneously, adaptation M&E systems are beginning to emerge at the national level in the context of national planning and budgeting processes. This technical guidance note details how to develop M&E systems for adaptation planning in agriculture sectors.

Energy Transition: Perspectives and Opportunities for the World of Work

This course will provide a conceptual framework for the creation of more and better jobs through the transition to sustainable and clean energy. It will equip participants with the knowledge and understanding of the employment creation potential and the skills required for a transition to sustainable and clean energy, as well as concrete strategies for decent work promotion in the sector, from both public and private sector perspectives.

Promoting Green Jobs and Business Opportunities in the Waste Sector

This course examines the potential for decent work promotion and green business development across the waste value chain, focusing on waste collection, sorting and recycling. Lessons will be drawn from international literature, analysis of case studies and interviews with practitioners. The emphasis will be on identifying and developing solutions to bridge gaps in the recognition and integration of the contributions made by workers in the informal economy, and on unlocking jobs in the waste sector.
