Asia and the Pacific SDG Progress Report 2022: Widening disparities amid COVID-19

Throughout Asia and the Pacific, Governments are striving towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the ambitious objectives of reaching the furthest behind first, but the progress is insufficient and has in fact, decelerated. The challenge of achieving the goals has been magnified in recent years by an increase in the frequency and intensity of humanmade crises and natural disasters, as well as the challenges of responding to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

78th Session of the Commission

The seventy-eighth session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) will be held in a hybrid modality from 23 to 27 May 2022 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok and online.

Guided by the theme “A common agenda to advance sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific”, the annual session will be an opportunity to discuss and shape the future of regional cooperation centred around a new form of multilateralism and regional cooperation.

The financing needs to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are substantial for the Asia-Pacific countries in special situations, which comprise the least developed countries (LDCs), landlocked developing countries (LLDCs) and small island developing States (SIDS) of the region.

Asia-Pacific Trade and Investment Report 2021

The Asia-Pacific Trade and Investment Report (APTIR) is a biennial publication prepared by the Trade, Investment and Innovation Division of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific to provide insights into the impact of recent and emerging developments in trade and foreign direct investment on countries’ abilities to meet the challenges of achieving sustainable development.

76th UNGA High-Level Side Event on Social Business, Youth and Technology

Between 23 and 25 September, at the sidelines of the 76th United Nations General Assembly, the Government of France, the Government of Nigeria, the Government of Cabo Verde and the Global Committee on Social Business for Sustainable Development Goals, are hosting a high-level event on “Social Business, Youth and Technology: Social Business Towards a Sustainable Revival of Post-COVID19 Economy”.
