What’s the Evidence? Youth Engagement and the Sustainable Development Goals

This study presents evidence designed to inform future practice and policy making with regard to contributions of the youth towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

It provides information that supports the design and implementation of youth programs. Five programs were examined across three youth-focused or youth-led organizations: Plan International UK, the Asian Development Bank, and AIESEC.

Respecting the rights of indigenous peoples: a due diligence checklist for companies

Based on the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and ILO Convention No. 169, this Checklist aligns the principles and rights in these two instruments with the human rights due diligence approach set out in the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) provide that the due diligence process by business should include the following steps: 

Mainstreaming gender in environment statistics for the SDGs and beyond: Identifying priorities in Asia and the Pacific

Just as women and men have unequal access to rights, resources and opportunities, they relate to and interact with the natural environment in different ways, face differing vulnerabilities and impacts, and have unique adaptive capacity related to climate change, disasters and use of natural resources. The nexus between gender and environment has been of interest for decades, with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development providing renewed impetus to the discussion.

Call for Applications: "Catalyzing Women's Entrepreneurship"


As part of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific’s “Catalyzing Women’s Entrepreneurship” project, ESCAP has launched a Request for Applications.

Funding Goal

ESCAP seeks to partner and provide grant funding for 1) the establishment of a women enterprise impact investment fund; or 2) to expand an existing impact investment fund to specifically focus on women enterprises in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Women’s Access to Justice

This video provides an introduction to key concepts around women’s access to justice from the perspective of family law. It discusses why focusing on women’s access to justice is essential in order to achieve sustainable development and explores the various means to address the barriers which prevent women from accessing justice. The explainer video is followed by an interactive map that illustrates successful initiatives undertaken by UN Women in countries around the globe.
